Lotus

                                                            The spiritual connection

The lotus: a beautiful flower with a deeper purpose to it's being..let's learn from lotus ..to be a lotus..

The lotus is often called the Flower of Light in that it is the result of the interaction of the great creative forces of the fire of the sun and the lunar powers of water.

In India the lotus blossom is an important symbol of spirituality.  The lotus grows from the mud, yet remains untouched by the water it sits on, clean, fresh, fragrant, and beautiful. This is indicative of the spiritual journey, growing upwards and blooming. It petals curve inwards, looking within itself. "Padma" is the Sanskrit word for lotus, and the goddess Padma is associated with water and fertility. In Hindu mythology, Brahma, the creator of the universe, was born from a lotus blossom growing from the navel of Vishnu, who was sleeping on the water. The lotus flower is also associated with Lakshmi, Vishnu's wife, the goddess of wealth and beauty.

The lotus has great significance in Buddhism as well. Gautama Buddha is described as having lotus eyes, lotus feet, and lotus thighs. The lotus represents both compassion and manifestation.

In China the lotus represents the past, present and future since the same plant bears buds, flowers and seeds all at the same time.
